Since 1998 lecturer of Human and Regional Geography at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.

Since 2005, qualified as professor of Human Geography through an open competition (habilitación nacional).

1998-2007, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) consultant at the Cartography and GIS agency of the Province Government of Barcelona (Diputació de Barcelona).

1998, Researcher at the GIS Lab of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

1996-1997, GIS professor and researcher at the Department of Geography of the Universitat de Barcelona.

1994-1996, Faculty Research Assistant at the Department of Geography of the University of Maryland (Maryland, USA).

1989-1993, Research assistant, lecturer and Ph.D. student at the Department of Geography of the Universidad de Navarra.

1988, Research assistant at the Institut de Ciències de la Terra “Jaume Almera” (Barcelona), of the Spanish national council of research (C.S.I.C.).

35 months of long or short periods of research at foreign universities in the USA, UK, Kenya, Austria and France (three months invited by the University of Poitiers to do research at the MIGRINTER lab)

Two books; 7 book chapters; 23 papers in specialized journals; 5 articles in newspapers and magazines; 17 presentations in international conferences (10 of them published); 21 presentations in other conferences (12 of them published)

 

TEACHING ACTIVITIES. SEMINARS

I have been a lecturer since 1996. I taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels at the Universitat de Barcelona, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Lecturer and professor at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya sibnce 1998. Teaching subjects since 1996: Regional and Human Geography, International Migrations, Crime and Immigration, Immigration and Health, Sociology, Urban Geography and Geographical Information Systems.

RESEARCH FUNDED PROJECTS OR RESEARCH CONTRACTS

6 projects funded in Spain; participation in 3 projects funded in the USA and one project funded in Argentina and France.

 

OTHER PROFESSIONAL OR SCHOLAR MERITS

In 2006 I was awarded the 18th prize Rogeli Duocastella and the publication of the book “El comercio étnico en el districto de Ciutat Vella en Barcelona”).

Since 2006, reviewer of the scientific journal “Estudios Geográficos”

1998-2007, Secretary of the Catalan branch of the Spanish Association of GIS (AESIG).

Since 1997 director of six research projects carried out by graduate students.

Since 1987 I have obtained 8 different types of university scholarhips.
